Weitere news zum neuen Album:
f you think 6.6.06 is an intimidating calendar date, just wait. The killer reunion of all time — complete with live tour dates — is about to commence.

The four original members of SLAYER — Tom Araya/bass, vocals, Kerry King/guitars, Jeff Hanneman/guitars, and Dave Lombardo/drums — the pioneers and undisputed kings of extreme speed/thrash metal, have entered a Los Angeles-area studio to record what will be their first new studio album since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss". And if that's not enough, uber-producer Rick Rubin, who helped solidify the much-emulated SLAYER sound beginning with their genre-defining 1986 classic "Reign In Blood", has taken the helm as executive producer of the project. The original team is back in place.

Working closely with Rubin will be Josh Abraham (KORN, VELVET REVOLVER, ATREYU) who will produce the album. "We're real happy to have Josh on the team," said SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman. "He's a very creative and intuitive guy, he knows music, and he really gets who SLAYER is and what we're doing." The as-yet-untitled album will be released on SLAYER's longtime label, Rubin's American Recordings/Warner Bros. Records, and is expected out this fall.

"Dave's been back with us, playing live, for a couple of years now, and we're all looking forward to recording together again," said the band's Tom Araya. Kerry King added, "There really is no one like Dave — he doesn't have to work at what he does, he just walks in, picks up his sticks and goes."

Said Lombardo, "It feels really good being back with the same guys I started out with. The chemistry is definitely there, that's the exciting part of it, to capture that chemistry again. And that's what is happening."

Jeff, Tom and Kerry have been writing songs for this new album since they wrapped their last North American tour in September 2004. "This is probably the most prepared we've been to record an album since the '80s," King added. "We've been writing and cutting demos for months." While these may change, working titles for some of the songs that will be recorded include "Catalyst", "Cult", "Supremist", and "Consfearacy". "I like to write songs that have different meanings for different people," said King, "where everyone can say, 'I know what he means,' but still get their own sense of what the song is about."

But wait, this just gets better. On 6.6.06 in San Diego, CA, SLAYER will kick off a seven-week summer trek, "The Unholy Alliance Tour Preaching to the Perverted", that boasts what has got to be the genre's coolest line-up of the summer — LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON and CHILDREN OF BODOM (who will rotate the second and third slots), and THINE EYES BLEED who will open the shows.

Not only is the line-up terrific, but ticket prices will not exceed $39.00, giving fans a great value for their dollar. Tour dates and all other details will be announced shortly. Confirmed dates are below.

According to SLAYER's longtime manager Rick Sales, "We want to make 'The Unholy Alliance' tour an annual global event, so we decided to be smart about the design from the beginning. We chose to book most of the tour¹s shows at indoor venues, as that allows the bands and the fans amenities like air conditioning and indoor bathrooms, as well as the very best stage lighting, production, and sound and less expensive concession prices. The few shows that will be played outside will be played at night in permanent facilities with our lighting, production, and so on. Everyone wins."

Was neues von Kerry King:

Kerry King has checked in with an official update off his personal KFK website - it reads as follows:

"First off, bottom's up, cheers and thanks a fuckin' lot for hangin' around since my last update- which seems like it was in the stone age it was so fucking long ago! Hey, everyone needs a vacation, right? Burnt the fuck out!!!! That's what I was. Anyway, I've been working non-stop toward finishing our new record... still on time for a June release! No one should be dissapointed. Everything really smashes you in the fucking head!"

"I want to address a couple of thing that have been pissing me off lately. First, I'm sure some of you ran into, sent emails to, or whatever the fuck happens at the domain called MySpace. The no-life loser fuckface douchebag that was selling himself as yours truly. I think there is someone else on there now as well claiming to be me. I found out about this charade when a couple of endorser buddies of mine inquired whether or not it was me. I said do you really think I have time for that horseshit? Then I proceeded to have fuckface douchebag removed from the site. I never have nor do I plan on doing anything personally with MySpace. Nothing against it, but as you can see, I don't even have enough time for my own site. One last thought on this... Get a life you fucking idiot! I live my life, you fucking live yours!!!"

"Second, I just want to give everyone a head's up about purchasing autographs. My autograph isn't that hard to get. I do tons of promo. Whether it's for Jagermeister, B.C. Rich, Marshall, or even Guitar Abuse events. My point is, if you have to possess something signed, your best bet it to get it done yourself. If you can't do that, make sure you know what my signature looks like before purchasing anything! I hate to see shit go up on eBay that I know is phony. It sucks knowing that people spend their hard earned cash on counterfeit shit! Word to the wise, ( and un-wise ), buyer fucking beware! Just pay attention and hopefully we'll roll through a town nearby and you can get your own shit signed in person so there is no question about it's authenticity."

"All right, now to biz...the new re-launch date for the site will be 6-6-06. I couldn't have planned it any better- a match made in hell. Between now and the end of March, I'm throwing a couple new items on the swag page to hold everyone over until the new site is complete. One will be a long sleeve version of the original Guitar Abuse t-shirt that was only sold at events. So for now, I'm back to the studio to work on the latest hellish symphony... Kill your shots!!!"

Interesannt was jeff hannemann so bei ich daheim rumhängen hat.

New Slayer Album Might Be Their Fastest Yet - April 20th, 2006

The last time speed-metallers Slayer released an album's worth of new material, it came in the form of God Hates Us All and arrived on shelves the morning of September 11, 2001.

So bass-wielding frontman Tom Araya understandably feels some apprehension about Slayer's forthcoming, still-untitled disc, which they're still working on in Los Angeles with producer Josh Abraham (Staind, Velvet Revolver). The finished product will be preceded by a digital release on June 6 (making Slayer one of several metal bands who just can't pass up the opportunity for a 6/6/06 release date).

"I'm hoping that whenever it comes out, nothing major happens," Araya said. "It's like, 'I wonder what's going to happen this time around?' "

The CD should surface in late July, he said, and feature the tracks "Cult," "Catalyst," "Catatonic" and "Jihad." At this stage, seven weeks into recording, five of the album's 11 tracks are finished and about to be put through the mixing process. Slayer still need to put the finishing touches on the remaining songs, but Araya expects the band will be finished with everything in the next week or so.

"This album is actually like a culmination of everything we've done," Araya said. "There's one song that I'm thinking will surprise everybody, because of the song itself. I'm not going to say why, because you have to keep that element of surprise, dude. Musically, it's going to blow everybody away. It's going to trip everyone out. It has all the elements of everything we've done. No one's going to be disappointed with this record. It's fast, heavy — maybe faster than anything we've done before. It's going to be brutal. It's what everyone expects from a Slayer record."

A track called "Eyes of the Insane," Araya said, is perhaps the most political song on the album. The song was inspired by an article he'd read in an issue of Texas Monthly magazine.

"The song's about the effects of war on some of these soldiers," he said. "This article — and it was a pretty trippy article — it really affected me. The entire magazine was devoted to soldiers of this new Iraq conflict that's going on. The effect that the war has had on some of these kids who're coming home and having a tough time dealing with what they've seen — I mean, some of these kids are traumatized and mentally destroyed by what they've seen. The magazine also ran an entire list of the soldiers from Texas who've died. It was several pages with pictures of these kids. It blew my mind."

The rest of the album's lyricism is standard Slayer fare: "Hate, religion — that kind of stuff," Araya said.

This summer, Slayer will preview new material on the road as part of their closing set on each night of the Unholy Alliance Tour. The run kicks off June 6 in San Diego and wraps up July 22 in Long Beach, California. Treks in Europe, Japan, Australia and South America will follow.

"For the heavier crowd, you're definitely going to get your money's worth [from this tour]," Araya said.
