In Antwort auf:METALLICA is less than two weeks away from its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the band has confirmed that former bassist Jason Newsted will attend the ceremony. Guitarist Kirk Hammett also told The Pulse of Radio that Newsted will perform with the group at the event as well. "Jason Newsted will be there, and he will be playing with us at one point," he said. "We went as a band when BLACK SABBATH was being inducted, and at that time BLONDIE was also being inducted that night. And there was so many politics and so much drama that, you know, we collectively said to each other, 'We don't want any of that,' because it kind of, it puts a really bad, sour note on the whole celebration itself."
Hammett also told The Pulse of Radio that the band is in the midst of deciding what songs it will play at the ceremony.
The Hall of Fame induction will take place on April 4 at the Hall's Public Auditorium in Cleveland. METALLICA will be inducted by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich spoke with the Los Angeles Times about several topics, including whether or not the band needs a major label to move forward with its career now that its contract with Warner Bros. Records is done. Ulrich replied, "Without offending any of the good people from the record company in the room, no . . .We're doing a bunch of shows with Trent (Reznor, NINE INCH NAILS) this summer in Europe. I look forward to sitting down and talking to him about what's on his radar."
On the proposed merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster, Ulrich said, "We haven't sold out to Live Nation, and we are certainly not planning on it. And we are very, very fortunate that we do not need what they offer to continue to be who we are." Ulrich added that the recent scandal involving Ticketmaster redirecting ticket buyers to its official "scalping" site was "very distasteful," adding, "It's just ripping people off. It's impure. So obviously I'd stand up and scream from every rooftop that I think that's . . . impure."
Das wird interessant. Schön, dass sie ihm den Respekt erbringen.
Interessant übrigens auch der ticketmaster Aspekt, der im letzten Abschnitt angesprochen wird. eventim gehört ja zu ticketmaster, und da gibts ja auch massig Ungereimtheiten und Abzock-Strategien, um den Leuten noch mehr Geld aus der Tasche zu ziehen. Ist scheinbar also nicht nur hier so...

Is zwar nett das die Jungs Jason teilhaben lassen aber ich find die ganze Auszeichnung mit der Hall of Fame absolut "". Musiker brauchen solche auszeichnungen nicht imo und schon gar nicht Metallica, das die Jungs ne große nummer im Musikgeschäft sind ist ja nix neues, für mich ist das ganze nur balsam fürs ego

Klar sind das Musik-Biz-Schulterklopf-Veranstaltungen, das steht ja wohl außer Frage. Dennoch ne nette Geste, dass sie Jason auch teilhaben lassen.

Wenn Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) über seine ehemaligen Band-Kollegen von Metallica spricht, fallen nicht immer schöne Worte. Das ist jetzt anders: er gratuliert zur Aufnahme in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Megadeth-Chef Dave Mustaine hat einen offenen Brief an Metallica geschrieben, in dem er ihnen gratuliert, in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen worden zu sein. Außerdem bedankt er sich, dass er eigentlich auch zur Feier eingeladen ist:
„Ich gratulieren – mit allem gebührenden Respekt. Außerdem war ich angenehm überrascht, als ich hörte, dass sie mich zur Party in der Nacht vorher eingeladen haben. Wie ihr alle wisst, bin ich allerdings in Europa mit Judas Priest auf Tour und werde daher nicht dabei sein können.“
Er sei wirklich stolz auf Lars Ulrich (Schlagzeug) und James Hetfield (Gesang, Gitarre), wie der Megadeth-Sänger weiter mitteilt. „Ich werde weiterhin für das Wohl von euch und euren Familien beten. Danke für die Einladung und dass ihr an mich gedacht habt.“

I. METALLICA ZUSAMMEN MIT JASON IN DIE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME | 1.4.2009
Metallica werden dieses Wochenende in die Rock N Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Bei der Zeremonie wird auch Ex-Bassist Jason Newsted zugegen sein, der erstmals nach gut 8 Jahren wieder mit seinen alten Kollegen eine Bühne teilen darf.
Flea von den Red Hot Chili Peppers gebührt die Ehre Metallica in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame einzuführen. Die Zeremonie steigt am 4. April im Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio und ist bereits restlos ausverkauft.
"Es ist cool, dass er nicht in einer Heavy Metal Band spielt, aber ein sehr respektierter Musiker ist den man nicht unbedingt erwartet hätte", sagte Kirk Hammett über seinen Laudator gegenüber Billboard.com.
Zur kurzweiligen Reunion mit Jason: "Er war 14 Jahre bei Metallica, also denke ich gibt es keinen Grund, für ihn nicht zu erscheinen." Ulrich fügte hinzu, dass die Zeremonie eine Art Familien Reunion wird mit vielen Freunden und Bekannten.
Jason Newsted: "Ich hab letztens einen Anruf von Lars bekommen, in dem er mich gefragt hat, ob ich nicht Lust hätte bei der Party dabei zu sein und einige Songs zu spielen... Meine erste Reaktion war: "Was hält Rob davon? Ich möchte auf keinen Fall irgendwas Negatives hineintragen. Lars meinte daraufhin, dass das alles mit Band abgesprochen wäre und Rob sich sehr darauf freut, dass Black Album LineUp zu sehen."
"Vor Ulrichs Anruf hatte ich keine Pläne mit der Band aufzutreten. Ich denke Metallica sollten als die Band auftreten, die sie derzeit repräsentieren, weil sie immernoch stark sind. Die 4 Jungs in Metallica haben ihre Sachen beisammen und hauen immernoch ordentlich auf die Kacke... es kommt nicht oft vor, dass die Hall of Fame eine derart intakte Band aufnehmen darf."
Metallica haben für Freitag abend ein Rehearsal geplant. Newsted wird dabei auf sein altes Equipment zurückgreifen, welches er schon zu Metallica Zeiten benutzte: "mein Sadowski Bass hat mehr Songs für Metallica gespielt als jedes andere Bass Instrument."
"Wir werden etwas neues und etwas altes aus unserer gemeinsamen Zeit spielen. Ich freue mich auf diese unglaubliche Familien Reunion. Es wird eine riesen Party für uns!"
