The Browns play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Cincinnati Bengals face the Colts in Indianapolis and the Baltimore Ravens are at home against the Buffalo Bills. Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot to talk about ahead of each team’s regular-season debuts. Here’s the most need-to-know for the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals for Week 1.Pittsburgh Steelers: The big news of the week ahead of Sunday’s Steelers-Browns matchup is the continued absence of Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell, who has skipped all of training camp and the preseason for the second straight year—a response to being given the franchise tag for the second straight year—did not report as anticipated on Wednesday and isn’t going to be with the team for Week 1. And, as Behind the Steel Curtain’s Simon Chester reported, that holdout may extend well into the regular season. Bell’s agent, Adisa Bakari http://www.authenticsclevelandbrowns.com/cheap-briean-boddy-calhoun-jersey , said to SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday that he may not show up until Week 10, right up against the deadline to allow Bell to play this year. This has created drama, not just among fans but also Bell’s teammates. Chester broke down the numerous comments made Wednesday by Steelers offensive linemen about Bell, including guard Ramon Foster calling Bell “selfish,” and guard David DeCastro suggesting the back sit out the whole season. Second-year player James Conner will get the start at running back against the Browns on Sunday.Baltimore Ravens: SBNation’s Thomas George made a case for why the Ravens and veteran quarterback Joe Flacco “still need each other,” but the future of the position in Baltimore is approaching rapidly. That began when the Ravens moved up in the first round of this spring’s NFL Draft to snag quarterback Lamar Jackson with the 32nd-overall pick. Now, Jackson is the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart, with Robert Griffin III the No. 3. That makes Jackson the next man up if Flacco suffers an injury or takes yet another step back in his performance. Baltimore Beatdown’s Kyle P. Barber also examined the rest of the Ravens’ depth chart maneuverings post-roster cutdowns, and noted that center and left tackle are both areas of weakness. It also appears that tight end Nick Boyle will get the start while rookie Hayden Hurst continues to work his way back from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot.Meanwhile, Logan Levy looks to the ghosts of Ravens past and wonders whether the Ravens failed to adequately develop 2015 Round 1 draft pick, receiver Breshad Perriman, or if it was a draft-day failure that could not have been avoided. Perriman remains a free agent after being released by the Ravens in Saturday’s final roster cuts.Cincinnati Bengals: One of the Bengals’ key defensive starters will be sidelined for the first quarter of the 2018 season http://www.authenticsclevelandbrowns.com/cheap-derrick-kindred-jersey , with linebacker Vontaze Burfict serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy. Though Burfict is no stranger to suspensions and the rules that go along with them, not everyone knows what is or is not permitted of suspended players. Cincy Jungle’s Rebecca Toback listed them off this week, which include Burfict being banned from attending any NFL games during the four-week ban even as a spectator in the stands. One of the Bengals’ goals this year is to field a much-improved offensive line. In 2017, the team ranked just 31st in rushing yards, while Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was sacked 39 times. And newly-minted Bengals starting right guard Alex Redmond has an idea of what will help these efforts: Coaching. Per Cincy Jungle’s Nick Manchester, Redmond’s rise to the starting ranks is due in part to new offensive line coach Frank Pollack appreciating his physical aggressiveness. Former line coach Paul Alexander, fired in January? Not so much. Redmond said, “I’ve had other coaches in the past tell me to be something I wasn’t and they’re gone now, thankfully.”

Hyde signed a three-year, $15.25 million contract in March. The Jaguars (3-3) were willing to take on the financial commitment because leading rusher T.J. Yeldon will become a free agent at the end of this season. So will third-stringer Corey Grant Authentic Damarious Randall Jersey , who was placed on injured reserve last week because of a foot injury. The Jaguars signed veteran Jamaal Charles to a one-year contract to replace Grant.Fournette was ruled out for Sunday's game against Houston. It will be the fifth game he's missed this season because of the nagging injury.Cleveland had seemed pleased with Hyde, but his departure clears the way for rookie Nick Chubb to be the team's primary back. He's averaging nearly 10 yards per carry.Browns general manager John Dorsey continues to revamp the team's roster and add picks. In addition to their own picks in the first six rounds, the Browns acquired a third-rounder from New England, Jacksonville's fifth-rounder, another fifth-rounder from New England and a seventh-rounder from Jacksonville. The NFL trading deadline is Oct. 30.The Jaguars built their offense around Fournette, a bruising runner and the fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft. He tried to return after missing two games earlier this season but re-injured his hamstring and has been sidelined since. Yeldon, meanwhile Womens Denzel Ward Jersey , is dealing with foot and ankle injuries.Making Jacksonville's offense even more stagnant, the team is without its top two left tackles, its top two tight ends and its leading receiver from 2017.The 28-year-old Hyde was off to an impressive start in Cleveland. But he was taking playing time away from Chubb, who scored on two long touchdown runs at Oakland on Sept. 30 and enters Sunday's game averaging 10.8 yards on 16 carries. Also, running back Duke Johnson had gone from being a dual threat to mainly a receiver. He's had just 19 carries this season.Earlier this week, Browns coach Hue Jackson said it was vital to get Chubb more touches. Chubb had only three carries for 25 yards last week in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers."We need to get him more chances," Jackson said. "But I think sometimes the game changes http://www.clevelandbrownsteamonline.com/jc-tretter-jersey , you get behind and you need Duke Johnson out there because that is what he does well — catch the ball and run it. I think that is what you were seeing yesterday. As these games get a little closer, they do not get too far away and we can get up whatever that is, we do need to give Nick Chubb more carries."

We are in the final stretch of our positional previews heading into Cleveland Browns’ training camp. We will begin with the cornerbacks before finishing off with the safeties.Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports1. Denzel Ward - Rookie/Starting CornerbackHeight: 5-11 | Weight: 190 lbs | Age: 21Experience: Rookie | College: Ohio StateGregg Williams’ appeal to the front office this offseason paid off in a major way, as he was able to convince the team to draft Denzel Ward over Bradley Chubb with the fourth overall pick of the draft. Ward is a little undersized, but all of his other skills and level of play more than make up for it. He has proven to be capable of playing tight coverage, the kind where the Browns will be prepared to leave him on an island early and often this season. Ward has the speed and toughness to be a top cornerback, but this training camp, he will need to acclimate to the NFL rules to ensure he isn’t initiating too much contact with receivers.Pro Football Focus did a great job analyzing the type of route trees that Ward faced at Ohio State and how successful he was against them. One thing that PFF points out for sure is that Ward will not be getting a cakewalk as a rookie; he will be thrown into the fire.Final Roster Odds: 100%Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports2. T.J. Carrie - Competing for Starting CornerbackHeight: 6-0 | Weight: 204 lbs | Age: 28Experience: 5 years | College: OhioOne of the Browns’ bigger free agent signings this offseason was T.J. Carrie, who agreed to a 4-year, $31 million deal. He will be making receiver-level money and it was once thought that he would be penciled in to a starting role, but now he is instead going to compete with E.J. Gaines for the other starting cornerback job.Carrie http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/derrick-kindred-jersey-authentic , a 7th round pick in 2014 with the Oakland Raiders, started all 16 games last year and was regarded as the team’s best cornerback in 2017. Carrie was PFF’s 21st-ranked cornerback a season ago, and he showcased the versatility to play outside cornerback and in the slot. When the Browns signed Carrie, he noted that one of the things he particularly takes pride in is his ability to tackle. Cleveland also wanted to get faster at the cornerback position this year, and Ward, along with Carrie, help with that.Final Roster Odds: 95%Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports3. Briean Boddy-Calhoun - NickelbackHeight: 5-9 | Weight: 193 lbs | Age: 25Experience: 3 years | College: MinnesotaThe Browns have completely revamped the cornerback position this year, but Briean Boddy-Calhoun is one of the main holdovers. For two years now, I believe he has proven to be an excellent nickelback, playing tight coverage and also delivering some of the team’s better open field tackles. Last year, Pro Football Focus graded Boddy-Calhoun as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL in coverage snaps per receptions allowed.Opposting quarterbacks also had a passer rating of 70.2 when targeting Boddy-Calhoun, the 18th best mark in the NFL. Overall, he had the second-best grade among Browns defenders in 2017. Cleveland does have a lot of cornerbacks with versatility this year, to where one could argue that Boddy-Calhoun will also be pushed out the door. Instead, I hope that his spot if fully secure Womens Jarvis Landry Jersey , and that the competition really just exists for that other starting cornerback spot, and for the No. 4 cornerback.Final Roster Odds: 90%Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports4. E.J. Gaines - Competing for Starting CornerbackHeight: 5-10 | Weight: 191 lbs | Age: 26Experience: 5 years | College: MissouriCleveland was able to snag free agent E.J. Gaines on a relatively cheap 1-year, $4 million deal. He started 11 games with the Bills last season, combining for 59 tackles, 9 passes defended, and 1 interception. After working through a thigh injury for much of the 2016 season, Pro Football Focus said that Gaines’ production skyrocketed in 2017.Reports surfaced a couple of weeks ago that Gaines was a little upset by how the Browns represented themselves when he signed with the club, because he was under the impression that he was (virtually) guaranteed a starting role. Then, the team drafted Denzel Ward, meaning Gaines now has to compete with T.J. Carrie for a starting role. This should be a very tight competition that is up-for-grabs, though, so now is not the time for Gaines to sulk.Final Roster Odds: 75%

White Kwon Alexander Jersey , you lose games. Penalties and turnovers are one-way tickets to adding a mark in the “L” column. The Bucs know this. They went 3-7 in one-score games last season primarily because they made mistakes in both crucial moments and throughout a game on a common basis. An ability to avoid major mistakes was commonplace throughout the first two games of the 2018 season, but it was rendered absent on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game got off to a great start for the Bucs. The defense forced a three-and-out on Pittsburgh’s first possession of the game, but the Steelers returned the favor on Tampa Bay’s subsequent drive. The defense continued to make plays as Justin Evans read Ben Roethlisberger perfectly and intercepted a pass intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Bucs began their next drive in great field position at the Steelers’ 39. It only took a few plays until Peyton Barber broke off an 18-yard run all the way down to the Steelers’ four-yard line. Bucs’ tight end Cameron Brate caught his first touchdown of the season on the next play and gave the Bucs the first lead of the game, 7-0. All of a sudden, Pittsburgh had dug themselves in a hole, but that changed quickly after Roethlisberger found a wide open Vance McDonald coming off a busted coverage. After the reception, McDonald stiff-armed Bucs’ safety Chris Conte into China as he rumbled down the sideline for a 75-yard touchdown. Fortunately for the Bucs, the Steelers have some kicking woes of their own. Chris Boswell missed the PAT and Tampa Bay avoided the tie, 7-6.The Bucs were moving the ball well on the next drive, but a nice pass break up by Jon Bostic on O.J. Howard and a sack on the next play took them out of field goal range. The offense had to settle for a Bryan Anger punt that pinned the Steelers at their own eight.A missed attempt by Bucs’ cornerback Brent Grimes to tip a Roethlisberger pass ended up as a 43-yard completion to JuJu Smith-Schuster. To make matters worse, Gerald McCoy was called for a roughing the passer penalty that tacked on an extra 15 yards. Good tackling by the defense held the Steelers to a 38-yard field goal as they took the lead, 9-7.Tampa Bay committed their first turnover of the game on the next drive after Chris Godwin fumbled the ball on a catch and run that would’ve been good for a first down. Pittsburgh took over at the Bucs’ 33 and scored just two plays later when Antonio Brown put Brent Grimes on skates en route to a 27-yard touchdown on a quick pass. The Steelers now led 16-7 and a sense of urgency had begun to develop on the Tampa Bay sideline. The next drive got off to a great start as Mike Evans took a pass 27 yards into Steeler territory. A personal foul on the Steelers brought the ball even further down the field and the Bucs looked to be in good shape. But a Pittsburgh blitz left linebacker Jon Bostic unguarded and Fitzpatrick’s pass was not only tipped at the line of scrimmage, but picked off by Mike Hilton. The defense held strong on the next drive and forced the Steelers to punt the ball, but the offense still couldn’t find their footing as a miscommunication between Fitzpatrick and Evans resulted in another interception.Fitzpatrick threw his third - and most costly - pick of the game after another defensive three-and-out White Demar Dotson Jersey , but this time Bud Dupree took it to the house for six and further increased the Steelers’ lead, 23-7.An amazing 51-yard catch by Evans set the Bucs up with a first-and-goal, but a dropped pass by Godwin in the back of the endzone kept the Bucs to just three points, 23-10.Roethlisberger was absolutely masterful on the Steelers’ next offensive drive. With just 1:15 left on the clock, he drove the offense down and scored a touchdown in just ten plays to give Pittsburgh a three-score lead at halftime, 30-10.Could the Bucs mount a second-half comeback with no running game, an inconsistent pass rush and limited pass protection? The first drive of the second half was a bag of mixed results to say the least. An amazing 2-and-17 pass from Fitzpatrick to Godwin was ruled a 56-yard catch and run for a touchdown after it initially appeared as no one touched him down. But the replay revealed that Godwin’s shoe clipped the shoulder of Pittsburgh’s Hilton on his way to the ground. The Bucs faced a critical 3rd-and-18 just a few plays later and were able to convert on a short screen pass to Godwin that gave the receiver just enough room to run for the first down.Tampa Bay’s red zone woes continued, however, as an illegal shift penalty followed by a sack essentially killed the drive and they had to settle for another field goal to cut the lead to 17 and make the score 30-13.Godwin had an up and down dayDouglas DeFelice-USA TODAY SportsThe good news was that the defense received a great amount of rest due to the Bucs’ drive taking 7:53 off the clock, but the bad news was that they failed to score a touchdown in the red zone for the third time (2/5) in this game. A lack of a pass rush kept the Steelers offense moving on their next drive, but just when Tampa Bay needed a play, they got one. A strip-sack courtesy of Jason Pierre-Paul forced Pittsburgh to attempt a 47-yard field goal by Boswell.Even though the Bucs didn’t recover the fumble on the strip-sack, the end result was the same as Boswell’s attempt bounced off of the right upright and left the score unaffected. As it turned out, that was the breath of life that Tampa Bay needed to get back in the ball game. They drove all the way down to the Steelers’ four-yard line when Fitzpatrick scrambled to his left and chucked a high-arching pass to a wide open Godwin in the back of the endzone. All of a sudden http://www.authenticstampabaybuccaneers.com/cheap-ali-marpet-jersey , it was a game after the Steeler lead was cut down, 30-20. Pierre-Paul carried on with his day of harassing Roethlisberger in the pocket and the Bucs’ defense held tough once again, but there was an abnormal amount of cheering throughout the stadium - especially for a defensive stop. As the cameras panned over; viewers - amongst others - realized that it was DeSean Jackson sitting back awaiting the punt.It turns out that all of the excitement foreshadowed one of the more exciting plays of the game that was unfortunately wiped out due to a penalty. Jackson used his world-class speed to cut through the punt return unit for an electrifying 83-yard touchdown that sent Raymond James into a frenzy.Fitzpatrick and the offense didn’t let the penalty phase them. Instead, they created big plays of their own, culminating in a beautiful, 24-yard pass to Evans that cut the lead to just one score, 30-27.Tampa Bay was in business. Pittsburgh was on its heels. Such is life in the NFL. But John Conner wasn’t having any of it. On 1st-and-10, Conner immediately broke off a 27-yard run that was the catalyst to finishing the game off for Pittsburgh. Another nine-yard run by Conner and a subsequent quarterback sneak by Roethlisberger further dismantled the Bucs’ chance at a comeback. The Steelers rushed for a total of 30 yards as a team before that drive. In those three plays, they ran for 37. The defense held firm on the next three plays which included some excellent coverage by Carlton Davis on Antonio Brown that not only prevented a first-down conversion, but gave the Bucs the ball back with a chance to score. The offense was red hot and they had scored on their last three possessions. Could they do it one more time?It was an anti-climatic response as Fitzpatrick and the offense went three-and-out and then watched from the sideline as Big Ben ducked, dodged, and weaved his way out of a McCoy sack in order to complete a throw to the one and only Smith-Schuster to put the final nail in Tampa Bay’s coffin. Stats from the game:Both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mike Evans set new records today. Fitzpatrick is the first quarterback to throw for over 400 yards in three consecutive games, while Evans broke former Bucs’ receiver Jimmie Giles’ all-time receiving touchdowns record.Tampa Bay’s red zone issues continued today and were a big reason why they trailed for most of the game. The Bucs were 2/5 on scoring opportunities inside the 20 and were 2/4 in goal-to-go situations. The Bucs recorded three sacks and now have seven on the season, good for almost a third of their entire 2017 total. At this pace Youth Carlton Davis Jersey , they will finish with 37.5 sacks on the season. Ben Roethlisberger was a nightmare. He finished 30/38 for 353 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. His ability elude pressure and the fact that it sometimes took three guys to get him down is what hurts you the most, though. Not only did Mike Evans pass DeSean Jackson as the team’s leading receiver, but he is just 31 yards away from the leader, Michael Thomas, who has 38 receptions compared to Evans’ 23. Buccaneers linebacker Kendall Beckwith opened the season on the non-football injury list due to a broken ankle he suffered in an April car accident and the team opened a three-week window for him to go on the active roster when he began practicing in late October. That window will close without Beckwith making it back to the field, however. Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter announced on Monday that Beckwith will not play this season.“Kendell made progress, and he worked his tail off to get back,” Koetter said, via the Tampa Bay Times. “I don’t think people can appreciate how serious a surgery that he had, and it was an uphill battle. He worked hard to get back, but he’s just not going to get back to a point where he feels comfortable playing at the level that he knows he can play at.”Beckwith was a third-round pick in 2017 and finished his rookie season with 73 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

field goal on the final play of regulation. So no one apparently other than Bucs coach Dirk Koetter had faith that Catanzaro could kick a 59-yard game-winner in overtime. But Catanzaro apparently just needed the extra distance: He made the kick with 1:50 remaining in overtime Womens Adam Humphries Jersey , giving the Bucs a 26-23 victory. The look on Baker Mayfield‘s face on the sideline afterward indicated the Browns expected to get the ball back for one final chance to win it. Instead, Cleveland fell to 1-2-1 in four overtime games this season. The Browns had three possessions in overtime. They went three-and-out on their first; they used a Jamie Collins interception of Jameis Winston to reach the Tampa Bay 38 before ex-Brown Carl Nassib sacked Mayfield for a 7-yard loss to force a punt; and Jabrill Peppers fumbled a punt after an 18-yard return to the Cleveland 42. The Bucs did their best to help the Browns, but in the end, they couldn’t lose for winning. Cleveland still hasn’t won a road game since Oct. 11, 2015, when it beat Baltimore 33-30 in overtime. The Bucs, despite losing four turnovers, giving up a safety, missing an extra point Authentic Justin Evans Jersey , allowing a 32-yard punt return and losing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, still found a way to win. Winston completed 32 of 52 passes for 365 yards and two interceptions. He was the team’s leading rusher with 55 yards on 10 carries, scoring on a 14-yard run. Mike Evans caught seven passes for 107 yards, and DeSean Jackson had two catches for 25 yards and a 14-yard touchdown run.The Bucs defense, playing its first game with Mark Duffner as its defensive coordinator after firing Mike Smith last week, had five sacks and allowed only 305 yards. Nassib made two sacks against his former team.Mayfield completed 23 of 34 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 43 yards on four carries. Nick Chubb, who became the feature back this week when the Browns traded Carlos Hyde, ran for 80 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Jameis Winston Adam Humphries Jersey , who has been suspended three games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.Winston said in a statement released on Facebook that the NFL informed him of their decision on Thursday. The discipline stems from the league's investigation of an accusation that the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner groped a female Uber driver during a ride the quarterback took in Arizona, where Winston was attending a charity event in March 2016.The driver did not file a criminal or civil complaint, however she reported the incident to Uber. The NFL learned of the allegation, when it was reported publicly last November."The league promptly initiated a comprehensive investigation that included interviews with several persons, including the driver, Winston and others with relevant information," the NFL said in a statement announcing the suspension. "The league also examined an extensive amount of other evidence, including telephone records, business records, data from electronic devices and other communications."The Bucs drafted Winston No. 1 overall in 2015, despite questions about the young quarterback's behavior during his college career at Florida State.Winston, 24, was accused of raping a fellow student at FSU, but was never charged. The university settled a Title IX lawsuit over its handling of the allegations with Winston's accuser Demar Dotson Jersey , Erica Kinsman, in January 2016 for $1.7 million.Winston said in his statement Thursday that "in the past 2陆 years my life has been filled with experiences, opportunities and events that have helped me grow, mature and learn." Winston added that he has eliminated alcohol from his life.Winston, who's thrown for 11,636 yards and 69 touchdowns in three NFL seasons, has started 45 of the Bucs' past 48 games. He missed three games last season with a shoulder injury and the Bucs finished 5-11, missing the playoffs for the 10th straight season. He will miss the Bucs' season opener at New Orleans on Sept. 9, as well as homes games against defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. He will be eligible to return to the team on Sept. 25, the day after Tampa Bay plays the Steelers. The league said Winston is also required to have a clinical evaluation and cooperate in any recommended program of therapeutic intervention."All members of our organization are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the personal conduct policy of the NFL," the Bucs said in a statement. "We are disappointed that Jameis put himself in a position that has been found to violate the policy and accept today's decision by the commissioner."The suspension will cost Winston $124,411 of his base salary of $705,000 for the upcoming season. The quarterback is set to earn $20.9 million in 2019. Sunday was a forgettable day for the Buccaneers as a team, but a few guys will forever remember it as their first taste of NFL regular season action. Tampa Bay lost 48-10 and the debuting rookies didn’t put up any noteworthy numbers Chris Conte Jersey , but it was a step in the right direction for some guys that the franchise has high hopes for. Let’s get going with this week’s rookie recap.Debuts: DT Vita Vea, RB Ronald Jones II, WR Justin WatsonWhen it was announced Sunday morning that these guys were active, it felt like big news. The game going the way it did probably hurt the good feelings surrounding the sight of these rookies on the field. But nonetheless, Tampa Bay has now seen all but one of its rookies play in regular season action through the first four weeks. No. 12 overall pick Vita Vea returned from a calf injury that he suffered very early in training camp. He didn’t register a tackle, but did open up some opportunities for his fellow linemen. At this stage in his career, it looks like that will be Vea’s biggest role. He is such a massive body to have in the middle of the line, one that will require a double-team more often than not. Fans can argue about whether or not it was worth drafting someone for that role so early, but it’s not a bad guy to have on a defensive line. Overall, Vea took 33 snaps, which was 54 percent of the defense’s total. Second-rounder Ronald Jones was a healthy inactive for the first three weeks, but he showed up on the field for the first time on Sunday. He ran 10 times for 29 yards and caught one of his two targets for a loss of one yard. Those numbers aren’t going to impress anyone, but he showed some nice bursts throughout the day. His first career carry went for a nice five-yard gain, which was a small snapshot of what the team hopes it has in the USC product. The downside is that he dropped a screen pass on the very next play Ryan Smith Jersey , displaying one of the big reasons the team kept him inactive for three weeks. He took 20 snaps (32 percent), so it seems like the Bucs still want to ease him in. Overall, there’s a long way to go for Jones, but there’s clearly talent to work with. Fifth-rounder Justin Watson made his debut, playing three snaps (five percent) on offense and 18 (64 percent) on special teams. He came up with one solo tackle on special teams but didn’t get any targets in the passing game. CBs Carlton Davis and M.J. StewartTalk about forgettable... Carlton Davis and M.J. Stewart have been put in a tough spot. At times throughout the first three weeks and perhaps even a little bit in week four, their sheer talent allowed them to have some success. But with injuries and a severe lack of depth, a lot is being asked of the two second-round corners. They are playing a pretty high percentage of snaps, with Davis getting 49 (80 percent) and Stewart playing 34 (56 percent) this week. The secondary as a whole got embarrassed by Mitchell Trubisky to the tune of six touchdowns. There’s a lot of blame, and rightfully so, on defensive coordinator Mike Smith for Sunday’s performance. It’s clear that there has to be some sort of adjustments made to his scheme. The shortcomings of the scheme itself can’t be on the players. But there is definitely a lot left to be desired in terms of the current scheme’s execution, regardless of whether it’s a good scheme or not. Davis and Stewart aren’t excluded from that. They have to be better, no matter what Smith’s scheme might be. Of course, that’s easier said than done. In the loss, Davis finished with three tackles (all solo). Stewart had two (both solo) and a pass defended.Inactives: OL Alex Cappa Cheap O. J. Howard Jersey , S Jordan Whitehead, RB/KR Shaun WilsonAlex Cappa, taken in the third round, is now the only rookie that hasn’t made his regular season debut for the Bucs. It’ll come sooner or later, though he has some work to do after experiencing some growing pains throughout the preseason.Jordan Whitehead, who is supposed to have a much bigger role in the secondary with Chris Conte out, missed Sunday’s game with injuries to his hamstring and shoulder. Tampa Bay has to hope he’ll be back after the bye week, both because he has been solid in the early part of the season and because of the lack of depth at safety. With Jones active for the first time, undrafted rookie Shaun Wilson was on the outside looking in. Veteran Jacquizz Rodgers took his place as the kick returner, but only got one chance to return a kick. He took it back for 21 yards. The best of the restSixth-rounder Jack Cichy remains a part of the special teams groups. He was active for the fourth time in four games, playing 18 snaps (64 percent) on special teams and two (three percent) on defense. He was credited with an assisted tackle.

Color Rush Nate Solder Jersey , the New York Giants trail the Philadelphia Eagles 24-6 after the first half of Thursday Night Football. The Giants got off to a horrific start with an interception on their first drive, which the Eagles turned into a 7-0 lead. That quickly stretched lead to a 14-3. The Giants’ offense could only be described as “Saquon or Bust”. With the Giants’ offensive line being dominated, the team rarely looked past the line of scrimmage in the passing game. Barkley, on the other hand, was absolutely phenomenal, making would-be tacklers miss at every level of the field Youth Evan Engram Jersey , he was the Giants’ entire offense. Barkley hasn’t scored yet, but he has already topped 100 all-purpose yards for the sixth consecutive week. The Giants’ defense played well to start the game, with the returning Olivier Vernon having an immediate impact. ""We have to be able to run the ball Cheap Sterling Shepard Jersey ," Beachum said. "They know that and we know that."The Jaguars (2-1) actually welcome it after what happened in the fourth quarter last week."We want them to try it," Jacksonville linebacker Telvin Smith said. "Try that. Try to come out and hit in us in the mouth. Try to come out and run it down our throats. ... Try whatever you want to do against us."The Titans pretty much did, at least late. Bruising running back Derrick Henry gained 45 of his 57 yards behind "heavy personnel" in the fourth quarter. Tennessee took advantage of sweltering heat and humidity and essentially beat the Jags at their own game and in their own backyard.Jacksonville's defense will try to redeem itself against the Jets (1-2), who have one of the top rushing tandems in the league. Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell have combined for 310 yards and four touchdowns in three games."Those backs together are a deadly combination," Jaguars defensive tackle Calais Campbell said. "They are special. I'm a big fan of football, and I think Crowell and Powell are two of the most underrated players. People don't talk about them, but they're great running backs."The Jets also torched Jacksonville on the ground in last season's Week 4 matchup, which New York won 23-20 in overtime.Powell rushed for a career-high 163 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown in which the Jaguars failed to touch him down, and rookie Elijah McGuire added a 69-yard scoring run. New York finished with 256 yards rushing."It's definitely going to be a good challenge for us up front," Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson said. With rookie quarterback Sam Darnold making his fourth start and going against Jacksonville's vaunted defensive front, it makes sense that the Jets would try to establish the run. Throw in that the Jaguars have looked vulnerable to ground attacks — rookie Saquon Barkley ran for 106 yards, including a 68-yard TD run in the fourth — and New York would be silly to do anything else."Because they're good doesn't mean you're not going to challenge them," Jets coach Todd Bowles said. "We feel like we have good players, too, and we're going to challenge them and do the things we need to do to win the ballgame. Understandably Cheap Saquon Barkley Jersey , every week you're going to have to go through good players to try to win the ballgame, and that's what we have to do. You can't shy away from them. You have to do your job better than they do their job."Here are some other things to know about the Jets and Jaguars:FOURNETTE RETURNS?Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is expected to return after missing the last two games because of a strained right hamstring. Fournette ran nine times for 41 yards in first half of the season opener against the Giants, but has been sidelined since. He practiced on a limited basis all week.FAVORITE TARGETQuincy Enunwa has quickly established himself as Darnold's favorite target.Through three games, the receiver has seen 29 passes come his way, and has a team-leading 17 catches for 212 yards and a touchdown. The next-closest receiver is Terrelle Pryor, who has been targeted just 14 times with eight catches for 158 yards. Robby Anderson has 10 targets with six receptions for 90 yards."I'm just going to put the ball in the receiver's hands who is open," Darnold said. "That's my job, is to find the guy who is open, whether it's a running back, receiver or tight end."PROBLEMATIC PENALTIESThe Jaguars will try to reduce their number of penalties. They have been flagged 26 times for 265 yards."Obviously, it is hurting our football team," coach Doug Marrone said. "We are not a team that is built to overcome long situations. We keep talking about it. We keep stressing it."UNDER PRESSUREThe Jets have 23 quarterback hits, according to Radar360, a mark that ties them with Minnesota for the fourth most in the NFL.They also have eight sacks, tying them for 10th in the league. New York has four sacks in each of the last two games, the first time they have that many in consecutive games since 2015.Despite that success Cheap Odell Beckham Jr Jersey , defensive end Leonard Williams has yet to get a sack — and he registered no statistics against Cleveland."I thought Leonard played well," Bowles said. "He took the pressure off the other guys. They sent two or three guys at him almost every other play. But Leonard caused a lot of other people to make plays and that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I'm happy with what he did." to feel like you still have a chance in the division.”That’s Michael Strahan Authentic Ray-Ray Armstrong Jersey , legendary, New York Giants Hall of Fame defensive end, on the importance of Thursday night’s NFC East at MetLife Stadium against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. This game is absolutely the season-defining one for the Giants. This game will determine whether or not the Giants can be competitive in the mediocre NFC East or if they will simply spend the rest of the season playing out the string and building toward a hopefully brighter future. They know it, with tight end Evan Engram saying Tuesday that players are “well aware” of the standings. Here is Saquon Barkley on tonight’s game:“I think everyone’s goal is to win a Super Bowl and that’s still in play and in my opinion, if you ask me, like you said I think we’re a game behind in the division and I know I haven’t been in the NFL for a long time, but I think if you win your division, you automatically go into the playoffs, so everything like I said before, that coach Shurmur said a couple weeks ago www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com , everything that we want in our season is still there.”Here are your NFC East standings entering tonight’s game:1 - Washington Redskins (2-2)2 - Dallas Cowboys (2-3)3 - Philadelphia Eagles (2-3)4 - New York Giants (1-4)Shurmur told the team’s official website that looking at the standings “just reinforces that you just keep playing because you never know. You never know where this thing is going to go, so you just can’t get down on yourself, you can’t worry about what’s happened in the past. You just keep worrying about getting better and put a winning effort on the field.”Here are five things to watch tonight as the Giants try to make themselves relevant in 2018.Can Olivier Vernon make an impact? The Giants best EDGE player will make his season debut Thursday night, and the Giants desperately need him to give them something. The pass rush has been non-existent for the Giants this season. They have a league-worst six sacks and their Adjusted Sack Rate of 3.6 percent is also last in the league. In the Pro Football Focus grading system, the Giants have the league’s 29th-ranked pass rush score. If the Giants are ever going to generate an impactful pass rush this is a game where it could happen. The Eagles have given up 17 sacks and have an Adjusted Sack Rate allowed of 8.4 percent, worse than the struggling Giants offensive line (16 sacks, 7.8 percent). The Giants have had virtually no pass rush the past two weeks. If that’s the case Thursday night, the Eagles’ struggling offense could get healthy.Dealing with those tight endsEarlier this week, Mark Schofield looked at the myriad ways the Eagles use tight ends in their passing attack. The Eagles have thrown more passes (82) to their tight ends, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert New York Giants T-Shirt , than any other team in the league. Ertz leads all tight ends with 58 targets.Historically, tight ends have cause the Giants trouble in the passing game. This season, Football Outsiders DVOA ratings actually have the Giants ranked seventh in the league in covering tight ends. Can the Giants control Ertz and Goedert? If they can, that could go a long way toward slowing down the Philadelphia offense.Which offense will we see? Will we see the empty the playbook, get the ball down the field Giants who finally cracked the 30-point barrier Sunday against the Carolina Panthers? Or, will we see the Giants revert to the checkdown-oriented complete a lot of passes that go nowhere team that has been so frustrating to watch. The play of the offensive line vs. and Eagles front that includes Fletcher Cox, Michael Bennett, Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett and Chris Long will be critical. The Giants have been improving in pass protection in recent weeks, with coach Pat Shurmur telling the team’s official website they were “much better” in that area vs. the Panthers. The Giants could have advantages in the passing game against the Philadelphia secondary. Brandon Lee Gowton told us that the Giants targeted cornerback Jalen Mills 21 times in Week 3 of last season. They will probably go after Mills again New York Giants Hats , if Eli Manning is given time.Where the Giants have really struggled is in run blocking. The Giants have the league’s highest number of negative running plays, a stat that needs to change to both keep the Giants on schedule and maximize the talents of Saquon Barkley.Special teamsCan the Giants avoid the Curse of the Game-Ending 60+ yard field goal?” That bit them last year against Jake Elliott and the Eagles (61 yards) and last week when Graham Gano hit a game-ending 63-yarder. Seriously, though, the Giants do have some things on special teams to figure out. Will Odell Beckham Jr. return punts again? Will it be Jawill Davis? Placekicker Aldrick Rosas is apparently good to go after being on the injury report earlier in the week with a sore quad. Those throwback uniformsThis isn’t really a thing to watch as much as it is, in my view, a really cool thing to look at, The Giants will be in all-white throwback uniforms with “Giants” on their helmets rather than the lowercase “ny.” Gotta admit, I love it. With a 1-6 record and two players already traded, the feeling around the Giants is that there may be more deals to come before the October 30 trade deadline. One of the players often mentioned as a candidate for a move is cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Cornerbacks are always in demand and moving him with two years left on his deal would free up some cap space for the team to use in other ways.Jenkins was asked about the possibility of a trade when he met with the media on Thursday. He said he’s happy with the Giants, but has “no problem” if they should decide to send him packing.“Business is business New York Giants Hoodie , baby,” Jenkins said, via Tom Rock of Newsday. “Whatever they decide to do, that’s what they do. I can’t be mad at them. I can’t judge nobody. I can’t say nothing. If it happens it happens. I’m on to the next step.”Jenkins is due what’s left of his $6.4 million salary for this year and聽has base salaries of $10.15 million in each of the next two seasons, but the upcoming years of the deal are not guaranteed.

They signed free-agent wide receiver Rishard Matthews Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , who was released by Tennessee last month after requesting the move because he felt he was being underused. Terrelle Pryor was also released last Saturday with an injury settlement because of a groin tear.To make room for Matthews on the roster Tuesday, New York placed safety Doug Middleton on injured reserve after he tore a pectoral muscle Sunday in the Jets' game against Minnesota. The 29-year-old Matthews signed a one-year contract extension with the Titans in August after leading them with 1,740 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns combined over the past two seasons. He missed organized team activities, minicamp in June www.authenticssanfrancisco49ers.com , training camp and Tennessee's first three preseason games with an undisclosed injury before being activated from the physically unable to perform list before the regular season. But he didn't like how he was being used in new coordinator Matt LaFleur's offense and asked to be released or traded. Tennessee granted his request by cutting him when it couldn't deal him.He has 228 catches for 3,147 yards and 21 touchdowns in six-plus seasons.Matthews was a seventh-round pick by Miami out of Nevada, where his quarterback was Colin Kaepernick. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Dolphins before signing a three-year deal with Tennessee in 2016.Matthews, who comes from a military family, stayed in the tunnel during the playing of the national anthem during some games last season. He stood on the sideline for the final preseason game this summer and did the same during the three games he was with Tennessee. The Jets have had no players display any protests the past two seasons, with the players San Francisco 49ers T-Shirt , coaches and owner standing together with their arms interlocked.Middleton started a career-high four games this season, making 27 tackles along with three passes defensed. It's another tough break for Middleton, who tore a pectoral last summer during training camp and missed the regular season. He went home to North Carolina to rehabilitate the injury and used the time to earn his master's degree in public administration from Appalachian State. He was playing in place of the injured Marcus Maye, who is sidelined with a broken thumb. The Jets are short-handed at the safety spot with Jamal Adams and Terrence Brooks the only healthy players at the position.Rontez Miles remains on the physically unable to perform list after injuring a knee in the offseason. New York also has Brandon Bryant on the practice squad.AP Pro Football Writer Teresa M. Walker in Nashville, Tennessee, contributed. After 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL while trying for extra yards on a run in Sunday’s game San Francisco 49ers Hats , Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston said Garoppolo has “to be smart” and get out of bounds rather than go for an inch that wouldn’t make a difference.49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked on Monday about Garoppolo fighting for the extra yard. He said there are times when a quarterback makes “a hell of play and everyone鈥檚 glad they did it,” but that Garoppolo got an unwelcome reminder about why the safe route is usually the better one for quarterbacks to take.“Those guys are competitive guys who want to do whatever they can to win the game,” Shanahan said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “You’re not assuming by staying in bounds you’re going to tear your knee up. … But I think that’s something where Jimmy will probably look at differently going forward because I know he’ll remember this for the rest of his life. Nothing against him. This happens with everyone. You see it every Sunday. I just think it’s a reminder for everyone why that is the obvious coaching point and why you need to stick with it.”It will be next year before Garoppolo has a chance to show that he’s taken that reminder to heart, which makes for a pretty bitter way to learn a lesson.

For the 49ers Womens DeForest Buckner Jersey , 49ers’ win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2: “felt like a loss,” “couldn’t put them away,” “unable to beat man coverage.”It’s not getting enough attention, but the win also showed something very positive: Kyle Shanahan’s plan to build up his run game is falling into place. And that’s crucial, because his trademark play-action passes don’t work without the “play-” part working first.Garoppolo was 18 for 26, for 206 yards, 2 TDs, and no interceptions on Sunday, which isn’t exactly the disaster that was portrayed. His 118.4 quarterback rating was his best with the Niners, though the coverage sacks were pretty bad. But specifically on play-action passes, he was 7 for 9 for 123 yards, and that’s excellent by any measureThe Lions hung back a bit after Garoppolo’s struggles versus Minnesota, daring the 49ers to run. That was a bad idea, especially for a team with a run defense as porous as Detroit’s. Don’t discount the 190 yards (on 28 carries) that resulted just because Breida broke that one 66-touchdown. Even without it, 124 yards on 27 carries is a solid game; only six NFL teams average more per game this year, and the 49ers are one of them (3rd at 140 ypg). And all that has been accomplished with the team’s best running back, Jerick McKinnon, out for the year injured.Yes Youth Brock Coyle Jersey , Matt Breida is having a breakout year, but this improvement is a lot more methodical than just Lynch and Shanahan hitting on a single draft pick. The front office made several steps over the off-season that are coming together:Getting rid of Trent Brown (6’8”, 380)The huge tackle is an excellent pass blocker. But run blocking, especially on Shanahan’s outside zone runs? No.PFF actually highlighted one of his blocks on an OZR in Week 1 as a block of the week, but the tape shows his problem. He’s barely mobile and basically just shoves a defender to the ground. That’s great if he happens to be in perfect position to shove, but a lot of defenders will just run around him.Drafting RT Mike McGlincheyIt was hard to get excited about drafting an offensive lineman not named Quenton Nelson, but the move looks smarter every game, even if it felt like eating your vegetables. (Dessert will be drafting a bruising running back as the final piece of a championship team, but that will probably be 2 or 3 years from now.)McGlinchey — should we call him Mr. Glinch? I can’t tell if that’s a great nickname or a terrible one —had a rough Week 1, thrown into the guard position (which he had never played before) on short notice due to multiple in-game injuries, but the fact that the coaches even considered doing that shows how much faith they have in the rookie. After a much stronger game against Detroit, PFF ranked the 49ers’ line as the 6th best in the league and wrote:Signing C Weston Richburg in free agencyThe Niners paid a lot of money to sign the free agent center, especially since the New York Giants simply let him walk, after leaking word that they “considered him a bust.” That may have been a bargaining tactic — hoping to sign him back cheaper — that backfired, though. The New York Daily News is in despair over the Giant’s offensive line after all their changes.Four of those sacks were in the first half, against the Cowboys’ mediocre DL.Different players fit differently on different teams, of course. (Otherwise no one would ever trade.) Richburg’s mobility makes more sense in a mobile, zone-blocking scheme like Shanahan’s.But it looks like the Giants may have outsmarted themselves. It’s still possible that the 49ers overpaid Womens Ahkello Witherspoon Jersey , hoping to achieve the instant improvement that Shanahan got in Atlanta by signing Alex Mack as a free agent. But for now, the Niners are well under the salary cap and Richbug is a big improvement. NFL.com singled out McGlinchey and Richburg as big contributors in naming the 49ers as a top 5 offensive line for Week 2.Signing FA Alfred MorrisHow great of a last-minute pickup was Alfred Morris? The veteran running back knows coach Shanahan’s system from their time together in Washington and adds some size, at one inch taller and 32 pounds heavier than speedster Matt Breida, as well as pass catching ability. He’s not a dominating back at this point in his career by any stretch, but for a guy to sign off the street when your starting RB goes down for the year, he’s at the very least the football equivalent of a thrift shop score. Mike Person was a good value pickup, too. It’s easy to second-guess the player acquisitions of Shanahan and Lynch. And since they’re both new at their jobs, they will definitely make mistakes. But so far they have worked together very effectively to implement Shanahan’s vision of a perfectly multiple offense, where any play could be a run or a pass, and every skill player is a risk to carry the ball on every play. Even the best defenses have weak links, and this approach gives Shanahan the ability to scheme his skill players right at those weak links.Play-action works both ways. The run threat opens up the passing attack, but the threat of going deep also holds off the linebackers and discourages run blitzes. As Kyle Shanahan gets the players he wants, this offense will get tighter and tighter.Predict the 49ers’ first offensive play, tackle, and touchdown vs. Chargers The San Francisco 49ers head into Week 4 of the NFL season, which means it’s prediction time once again! The 49ers had an a season-changing injury to their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 3 and now turn to second-year quarterback C.J. Beathard to lead this offense. They might have a chance against a Joey Bosa-less Los Angeles Chargers defense, but it’s small, and an awful lot to ask of Beathard. The predictions will include:1. The first offensive play the 49ers will run/attempt to execute Womens Solomon Thomas Jersey ,2. The first player on defense (not special teams) who will make a tackle, and3. How the team’s first touchdown will be scored (if you think one will be scored). Here are the ground rules for the predictions.Offensive Play Prediction Guidelines: Try to be as specific as you can on what you think the 49ers’ first offensive play will be. Don’t just say “pass play” or “run play”. Instead, say “Beathard throws a slant route to Gar莽on for 7 yards” or “Alfred Morris runs right side and picks up three yards.” You can also predict incompletions, interceptions, fumbles, touchdowns, and even a safety if you really think that will happen on the first offensive play!Defensive Tackle Prediction Guidelines: Predicting the first defensive play is much more obscure, so this one is a simpler category -- project who you think will make the team’s first tackle that does not come on special teams or a returned interception/fumble.First Touchdown Against Los Angeles: If you do not think the 49ers will score a touchdown, then say “no touchdowns” as your answer. Otherwise, predict how you think the 49ers’ first offensive touchdown will be scored, along with the person(s) who will score. You can predict it to be on offense, defense, or special teams. If you predict a passing touchdown, name both the quarterback and the receiver. Here is the template you can copy+paste for your comments:First Offensive Play: First Defensive Tackle: First Touchdown:Here are my predictions.First Offensive Play: Handoff to Alfred Morris out of ‘I’ formation for three yardsFirst Defensive Tackle:DeForest Buckner of Melvin GordonFirst Touchdown: Afred Morris two-yard fade pass from C.J. The San Francisco 49ers will be without running back Matt Breida the rest of the day in Week 5 Youth Brock Coyle Jersey , according to FOX announcer Jennifer Hale. Breida suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter when Cardinals safety Budda Baker landed on it. Breida had the ankle taped, but then went to the locker room and did not return. The team formally ruled him out early in the third quarter.Breida was having a big day, with 56 rushing yards on eight carries. He has been the team’s biggest playmaker out of the backfield in a big way. In Breida’s absence, Alfred Morris becomes the primary lead back, and Raheem Mostert is his backup. The 49ers do not return to action until Monday Night Football next week, so Breida gets an extra day of rest. If he cannot go in Week 6 Youth Arik Armstead Jersey , the team would likely promote Jeff Wilson from the practice squad. Kyle Shanahan will get a chance to comment on the injury after the game, and we’ll see what Monday testing provides. Saturday is the last full practice of the San Francisco 49ers before they take on the New York Giants in their game on Monday Night Football. The final injury report will be available momentarily and Kyle Shanahan will be set to take the podium for some details but the beat writers are reporting on what the inactives are. Safety Jaquiski Tartt, wide receiver Pierre Gar莽on, and linebacker Reuben Foster are all listed as out for the 49ers Monday night game. All three of these players had been sitting out practices so the news shouldn’t be too surprising that they wouldn’t be good to go Monday Night. Reuben Foster was already trending in the direction of being out as the week went on. Additionally, tight end George Kittle looks ready to go Monday Night. Kyle Shanahan will be having his press conference with the media shortly, so we can get some more details from there. 49ers Saturday practice participation reportDNP: LB Reuben Foster (hamstring) Womens Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , WR Pierre Garcon (knee), S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder)Limited: TE George Kittle (chest)Full participants: TE Garrett Celek (not injury related), G Joshua Garnett (thumb), C Weston Richburg (knee), T Joe Staley (not injury related)

are different when you’re a rookie and expectations are markedly less. Knocks on you coming out of college are that you aren’t the best tackler and that the 49ers could have been reaching when they drafted you in the third round. Then you surprise everyone by playing lights out Womens Mike McGlinchey Jersey , and the following offseason, veteran Richard Sherman joins the team and invites you to his first ever cornerback summit because he thinks you can handle it. Those are big shoes to fill and Ahkello Witherspoon has handled those expectations very well. Prior to the game facing the Lions, however, Witherspoon was limited with an ankle injury but was healthy enough to play. With Sherman on the other side of the field, Witherspoon was targeted much more heavily in the first two games than he was last season Authentic K'Waun Williams Jersey , and he knows it. It’s going to be a steep learning curve for the second year defensive back but he has a critical support system in Sherman, who had a few things to say in regards to the 24 hour rule for Witherspoon:Head coach Kyle Shanahan detailed the rotation of Witherspoon coming out of the game late in the fourth quarter:The 49ers have a huge challenge ahead facing a Chiefs offense that has put up 80 points in two weeks. Witherspoon would be best served to have both ankles 100 percent, but those types of things can linger. It is likely he will be limited during practice to start the week, but we can all rest assured that there will be intense film study to go over what needs to be adjusted. Good morning Cheap Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey , — with the conversation centering around the play of quarterback Eli Manning. The NFL Today crew with former quarterbacks Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason and former coach Bill Cowher were all critical of Manning’s play during Sunday’s telecast.Simms:“Well, I think everybody is, and yes, he should be concerned about Eli Manning. There are a lot of things going wrong with the Giants offense. One thing that I see, you know, when you get an offensive game plan, we all know there are about six plays in the corner of that game plan that is for you to throw the football down the field to make a big play that can maybe make a difference in the game. The Giants are calling those plays, but the problem is Eli Manning is not giving them enough time to develop and throw the football down the field. When those plays are called, you as a quarterback, get excited. You got to stand in there, take the hit and get it down the field.”Esiason:“He’s not standing in there. He’s skittish. 鈥?At the end of the day you can see he is not comfortable on the football field and I think there is a lack of confidence there no matter what he says. “The one thing I will say about all of this in this whole discussion. It goes back to the owner, John Mara. He was the one who told Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur he’s your quarterback, make it happen, spend the money. They went out to support him and right now they’re looking at one of the worst seasons in Giants history.”Cowher:“We all see the uncomfortable position Eli is in with this offense. 鈥? He is not stepping up in the pocket. He is seeing the rush, not feeling the rush. He’s not looking downfield, he’s looking at people rushing him. 鈥?Consequently, he’s inaccurate. a prime time audience. For the Philadelphia Eagles http://www.authenticsnewyorkgiants.com/cheap-kerry-wynn-jersey , their struggles on both sides of the football are well documented. On defense they are having issues in the secondary and Jalen Mills is a frequent target of concern, as is their difficulty to handle the play-action passing game. On offense it starts up front. In his return to action following knee surgery quarterback Carson Wentz has performed well, completing more than 67 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and just one interception. However, he has been under siege in the pocket, having been sacked 12 times in just three games. Despite the pressure, Wentz does seem to be knocking the rust off in the wake of his injury. I spoke with Michael Kist, who covers the Eagles for Bleeding Green Nation and is one-half of the Kist and Solak Show, and here is what he told me about the Eagles’ young QB:Kist’s mention of Ertz is going to transition us to the focal point of this piece. While this is the “Scouting the Signal-Callers” series we are going to take it in more of a scheme direction this week, and look at how the Eagles utilize — and align -- their tight ends. This makes sense when you consider that Ertz is their most targeted receiver on the year, and rookie Dallas Goedert is seeing more and more looks now that Wentz is back in the lineup. Y-IsoGiven the usage that Wentz gets out of his tight ends, it should be no surprise that the Eagles use a few different formations to scheme Ertz and Goedert open in the passing game. One of those is Y-Iso, a 3x1 formation that has a tight end as the single receiver to one side of the field. Philadelphia will use this with multiple personnel groupings, so even if both players are on the field they might still go Y-Iso with one of them isolated on either the left or the right. These formations, particularly when done using 11 offensive personnel, put the defense into a situation where they might have to dictate pre-snap the coverage. Should Wentz see a linebacker walk outside to cover the isolated tight end, he can be pretty sure the defense is in man coverage. Similarly, should he defense keep a cornerback on the outside over Ertz or Goedert, he can be confident some sort of zone scheme is in play. Defenses can disguise that look by then playing man coverage with a CB on a tight end, but that might open up a mismatch elsewhere on the field for Wentz to exploit. Here an example of the Eagles using this formation here in 2018.This play comes from Wentz’s 2018 debut, against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts are a Cover 2 heavy team, so Philadelphia looked to attack the “turkey hole” behind the cornerbacks and between the safety and the sideline early and often this game. On this play they align using the Y-Iso formation and with 11 offensive personnel. Goedert (No. 88) is the isolated tight end on the right, and he runs the corner route on a Flat-7 Smash concept, a well-known Cover 2 beater. Running back Corey Clement (No. 30) releases to the flat. Backside the Eagles run a Levels concept:Pre-snap Wentz sees the two deep safeties http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-will-hernandez-jersey , as well as the cornerback aligned across from Goedert. That gives him a good indication that the Colts are in Cover 2 here, and he looks right to Goedert in the turkey hole:This next example comes from the Eagles’ loss in Week 5 to the Vikings and is an example of Philadelphia using Y-Iso despite having multiple tight ends in the game. They align with Goedert as the single receiver to the right, but Ertz (No. 86) is part of a three-receiver alignment on the left:Goedert and Ertz run matching curl routes, and Wentz does a very good job of sliding and buying time in the pocket before hitting Ertz with a big gain:Against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4 the Eagles used Y-Iso to get Ertz matched up with safety Kevin Byard (No. 31) on the backside of a 3x1 formation. Even though the Eagles were backed up in their own territory, they came out throwing and Wentz looked to Ertz on the out pattern:Y-Iso is, as we will see, just one way the Eagles align their tight ends to get some favorable opportunities in the passing game. They will use it with either Goedert or Ertz, and will use this formation anywhere on the field. Wing alignmentsThe Eagles also align their tight ends on the wing a great deal, and even employ a Double-Y Wing alignment with both Ertz and Goedert that they can use to attack defenses in the passing game with both tight ends on the same side of the formation. For example, they used the Double-Y Wing alignment on this Divide concept against the Indianapolis Colts, coming out in this formation:As you can see, Goedert breaks to the outside on a corner route while Ertz attacks the middle of the field on a post route. Once more the Colts are in a Cover 2 coverage, meaning that the middle of the field is open (MOFO) on this play. A post is a perfect route to use to attack a MOFO coverage, and that’s where Wentz goes with the football:The Eagles also use this alignment to help with pass protection, and for a team that is struggling to keep their quarterback upright, it can provide a boost in creating a stout pocket. On this first-and-10 play against the Colts, Goedert and Ertz align in the Double-Y wing with a receiver outside of them. The Eagles run a flood concept to the left, and Goedert is tasked with blocking the defensive end first before releasing to the flat:Goedert executes his block and then releases to the flat. Despite the play taking a long time to develop, Wentz is operating from a clean pocket, helped in part by Goedert’s block and release. That gives the left tackle time to set up and then engage the defensive end, and the rookie TE is then open in the flat for an easy seven-yard gain. The Eagles also run a number of spacing concepts, and even when they look to stretch a defense horizontally they will use the Double-Y wing formation to condense the defense prior to running the concept. This is an example of this, from Philadelphia’s Week 5 tilt against the Vikings:As you can see the formation condenses the defense http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-janoris-jenkins-jersey , bringing the cornerback down near the dual tight ends. Both of them release vertically, but Ertz runs a deeper curl route while Goedert breaks to the outside. The CB decides to jam Ertz, which creates an opportunity for Goedert to get separation on his quick flat route for an easy pitch and catch for Wentz. Finally, when the Eagles use a single tight end in a wing alignment, that does not mean you can take their eyes off of them. Philadelphia will use this alignment with either Ertz or Goedert to get them chances in the passing game. Wentz and the Eagles narrowed the gap against Minnesota late last week on a corner route to Ertz in the red zone, with the TE coming out of a wing alignment:In addition, they will use wing alignments to help get their tight ends involved in their RPO-based passing game. On this play against the Titans Ertz is aligned in a wing to the left. The Eagles show run inside, even pulling a lineman to set up the run look. But Wentz pulls and looks to throw to his tight end. As the linebacker vacates underneath, Ertz is wide open:As we have seen, part of the goal around these formations and packages is to get open looks for Wentz and his tight ends. This is just one more example of the Eagles achieving that goal.Thursday night pairs two teams who are struggling right now. While the defending Super Bowl Champions might be teetering a big given their protection struggles and some mounting injuries, it is clear from studying Wentz -- and his tight ends -- that their offense is just a few steps away from rounding back into form. Whether that happens Thursday night or not remains to be seen. Saquon Barkley knows how you probably describe is running style and he’d like that to change.“I don’t think my play is boom or bust,” he told Big Blue View at a Visa Financial Football event aimed to teach high school students money management skills. “I think that I’m a guy who could make an explosive play happen at any moment. I think you could make that argument in college, but so far in the NFL, it’s not like I’m back there dancing around — running this way, running that way. I’m not doing that. I’m taking what the defense gives me, trying to move the sticks.”Barkley is correct to an extent. So far in the NFL, he’s not dancing. Per Next Gen Stats, Barkley has averaged 3.51 yards run per positive yard gained. That’s the 11th-best among 48 running backs with at least 35 carries. On some runs, he’s taking what the defense gives him but to this point, it hasn’t been much. Through six weeks of his rookie season, Barkley is sixth in rushing yards with 438 — 261 of which (59.6 percent) of which have come after contact, per Sports Info Solutions.Per Football Outsiders, the Giants rank 32nd in adjusted line yards http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-connor-barwin-jersey , which gives rushing credit to the amount that’s blocked by the offensive line, but they also rank first in open field yards, which measures the percentage of runs that gain 10 or more yards, which gets credited to the running back.Because of this discrepancy between the quality of the line and the quality of the back, 27.6 percent of Barkley’s run this season have gone for zero or fewer yards while 13.8 percent have gone for 10 yards or more. It’s part of the reason why the Giants are 32nd in rushing marginal efficiency (play-to-play success) but first in rushing marginal explosiveness (big play potential). But Barkley’s boom has outweighed the negative runs to this point. It’s why he ranks second in Football Outsiders’ Defensive-adjusted Yards Above Replacement (DYAR, a counting stat) and third in Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA, an efficiency stat), despite ranking 30th among 37 qualified running backs in success rate.So how does a back keep fighting through the runs when he can’t do anything, knowing he can break free at any time?“I think that’s where I’ve improved,” Barkley said. “I think a perfect example is the Jacksonville game. We weren’t really getting anything going in the running game and I remember just saying to myself ‘stay patient, stay with it, take what they give you. You have the talent to split it at any moment’ and I was able to split a 68-yarder at a crucial time in the game.”The Giants had 19 rushing attempts against the Jaguars just past the 11-minute mark in the fourth quarter, two of which had gone for more than five yards. But Barkley got the ball on a 2nd and 2 and took it 68 yards for a touchdown. By Win Probability Added, it was the second-biggest single play of that game. There hasn’t really been an adjustment period, either. So far the speed of the game hasn’t scared the rookie.“Everyone says the speed is different [from the college game],” Barkley said. “I don’t necessarily agree with that from my case. People told me I couldn’t bounce it and beat them with my speed — I’ve been able to do that so far.”While the physical speed of the competition hasn’t jumped out at Barkley, the mental speed has.“It’s how smart defensive players are,” Barkley said of the biggest difference from college. “It’s just now, everyone knows where they need to be. You’ve got guys like Luke Kuechly and Sean Lee who are able to call out some of your plays before you even run a play because they’re so in-tuned with watching film and studying the game. They’re pros. That’s the difference.”Even with the increased quality of competition, Barkley knew he belonged immediately.“I always believed in myself and had the confidence I could do that,” Barkley said when asked when he first knew he could break a big run at the NFL level. “But I guess you could say it solidified my first carry of the preseason.”His first carry came in a preseason Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns. On the Giants’ opening play from scrimmage, Barkley took a handoff, started up the middle http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-b.j.-goodson-jersey , and cut to the outside for a gain of 39 yards. What truly makes Barkley dangerous and a player considered as the best overall in this past April’s draft is his receiving ability — through six weeks he leads all running backs with 373 receiving yards. How valuable Barkley becomes as a player could have more to do with what he does as a receiver than a runner — by Expected Points Added, Barkley’s contributions have been significantly more positive through the air (0.28 EPA per play) than on the ground (minus-0.01 EPA per play). That receiving production has also come with a less than ideal route chart for the back. Through this point in the season, Barkley’s main role has been that of a check down option, instead of a back who can run some of the same routes receivers do. Only four of Barkley’s 51 targets (7.8 percent) have come from the slot or outside, per Sports Info Solutions. Compare that to other similar backs like Todd Gurley (11-of-30, 36.7 percent), Alvin Kamara (12-of-51, 23.5 percent), and Christian McCaffrey (9-of-40, 22.5 percent). Even David Johnson, who has been vastly misused under a new coaching staff in Arizona has been in the slot or outside on five of his 27 targets (18.5 percent).A more diverse route tree and spread of where those routes come from would only help the player and the offense. The increased receiving workload isn’t something new to Barkley, nor is it something he’ll shy away from embracing.“My mindset is to try to be an all-around player,” Barkley said. “Any point in the game, being able to make a play for my team, whether it’s catching the ball or running the ball. I feel comfortable lining up wide, I feel comfortable lining up in the slot, in the backfield. I feel comfortable blocking, which I can also grow in that area of my game. But I do feel comfortable in all those things and whatever the teams needs me to do.”With the way the Giants’ season has started, the team has needed him to do a lot. And to this point, Barkley has been everything the Giants could have expected.

and it wasn’t hard to find people opining on social media that they should trade their other Eli as well. That would be quarterback Eli Manning Authentic Sterling Shepard Jersey , of course, and the question was put to Giants head coach Pat Shurmur on Tuesday. Shurmur said, via multiple reporters, that he believes Manning will still be the team’s quarterback after the trade deadline on October 30.Manning’s play has come under heavy criticism this year and Shurmur appeared to be displeased with him during Monday night’s loss to the Falcons when cameras caught him saying “What? Throw it to Odell [Beckham]” when Manning threw a pass to tight end Scott Simonson in tight coverage on a fourth down play. Shurmur lamented that people are into lipreading, but added he felt Beckham was open immediately on the play. The Giants will host Washington this Sunday in their final game before the deadline and Shurmur didn’t rule out more trades before or after that contest. He did say that the team isn’t tanking Youth Kareem Martin Jersey , although the first seven weeks of the season haven’t done much to suggest they have to actively try to lose games in order to accomplish the task.Should the Giants be interested in George Iloka? It isn’t often that a player becomes available half-way through the pre-season and it makes ears around the league perk up. That happened today when Ian Rapoport reported that the Cincinnati Bengals made the decision to release veteran safety George Iloka. Iloka is relatively young at 28 years old and possesses rare size for the position at 6 feet, 4 inches and 225 pounds. He also has experience as both a strong safety and free safety, and has been productive for the Bengals — generally averaging 75 tackles and 7 passes defensed in a 16 game season. The Giants’ secondary is a looming question mark as the the regular season approaches. The bigger questions are at the cornerback position, but adding talent to the secondary as a whole would help the defense. Even at the more-stable safety position, both potential starting free safeties Youth Ray-Ray Armstrong Jersey , Curtis Riley and Darian Thompson, have missed time with injury recently. From a schematic point of view, James Bettcher likes to rotate safeties to disguise coverages and the source of potential pressure. Iloka’s size could also make for creative alignments to help neutralize the passes to tight ends and running backs which have generated most of the offensive production against the Giants’ defense to date. There is also the salary cap question. The Giants don’t have much room with which to work, and while creating space is possible, it could create problems for them down the road. So B.J. Hill Jersey , with all that in mind, should the Giants be interested in Iloka?

Janoris Jenkins Jersey , Kyle Lauletta just getting started Let’s not go overboard and draw hard, unbending conclusions after what we saw from young quarterbacks Davis Webb and Kyle Lauletta in Thursday’s 20-10 loss by the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns.Webb, in his first game action since last preseason, wasn’t good. He was high with a bunch of throws and wide with a couple of others. He went 9-for-22 after starting out 0-for-6. Most egregiously, in my view, Webb mishandled the clock at the end of the first half. Facing third-and-4 at the Cleveland 27 with 13 seconds left and no timeouts, Webb completed a 6-yard pass to Russell Shepard, a completion too far inbounds to give Shepard a chance to get out of bounds and stop the clock. Time ran out before Webb could spike the ball and give the Giants a field goal opportunity. Let’s not bridge jump. The are some out there who have already leapt to the “Webb is terrible, no chance he can be the successor to Eli Manning” conclusion. Thursday was Webb’s first game action in a year. As impressive as he looked during the spring and the first part of training camp, things are a lot different in live action against a real opponent. Webb is still a young, developing quarterback who has never played a snap in an NFL regular-season game. “I was pumped up. It was my first time playing in a year, so I think the biggest thing was kind of just take a deep breath Kerry Wynn Jersey , let the game come to you,” Webb said Thursday night. “Again, I’m not too worried about it. I know I could make those throws and I know I will. I just got to get even keeled and ready to rock and roll next week.”Head coach Pat Shurmur said Webb’s emotions are “not a bad thing.”“He is so prepared and he wants to do well, that’s just his personality, and he does get amped up a little bit but that’s not a bad thing,” Shurmur said. “Wanting to do well is a good thing. I think we as coaches can just help him with that.”Webb wasn’t going to cement his future as the heir apparent to Manning on Thursday. Neither was he going to prove that was a bust, a wasted draft pick. The new Ryan Nassib. He showed us that he is a young quarterback who still has growing to do. He needs experience. He needs to play.Joe DeLeone | Big Blue ViewLet’s not bandwagon jump, either.Lauletta was impressive, but let’s not push him past Webb on the depth chart or immediately conclude that he is the better of the two young quarterbacks.Lauletta went 6-of-9 for 48 yards. There was an excellent on-target, on-time deep ball to Amba Etta-Tawo that turned into pass interference. There was a beautiful pass to Roger Lewis Jr. dropped between a corner and a safety off play action. Lauletta handled possessions that began at the Giants 9, 10, and 10-yard lines respectively without turnovers or risky decisions.“He’s very calm http://www.giantscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-curtis-riley-jersey , and I think he finds a way to make plays. He had a nice deep ball down the sideline to Amba [Etta-Tawo] that ended up being a [pass interference],” coach Pat Shurmur said. “I [think] he’s got a calm presence about him. I think he lost control of the clock once, we got the ball snapped, but those are all things you learn when you’re playing. So, it wasn’t a bad performance to start out for him.”Lauletta’s calm demeanor is something offensive coordinator Mike Shula has also talked about. The rookie quarterback said nerves weren’t an issue when he got into the game.“I felt really comfortable and calm. I wasn’t nervous at all. Just excited to get out there,” Lauletta said. “I felt fine. It’s no different than practice. At times practice almost seems harder than games. For me the game just kind of slows down and it’s fun. You get back to football and just having fun doing what you know how to do.”Kyle LaulettaNoah K. Murray-USA TODAY SportsWhat should the takeaway be?These are two talented — and very different — young quarterbacks.Webb has tremendous tools. Top-flight arm strength, size, athleticism. He has a tremendous work ethic, and wants badly — sometimes maybe too badly — to succeed. What he needs more than anything is to let things slow down, to relax, to let his natural athletic gifts come to the surface. He needs, to be honest Rhett Ellison Jersey , some of that calm, relaxed demeanor that might be Lauletta’s strongest gift.Lauletta has that calm demeanor. In talking to him, though, you also sense the resolve and competitiveness that have helped him overcome odds to get this NFL opportunity. He has anticipation, accuracy and on Thursday showed enough awareness of down, distance and field position not to force anything or make any costly mistakes. What Lauletta could use, of course, is Webb’s height and the enviable power of his right arm.Alas, if you could only combine the two into one quarterback. You would probably have a first-round caliber player. This competition is just getting started.I have said this before. Webb’s strong spring and summer didn’t guarantee him the right to be considered Manning’s heir apparent. His bad game Thursday didn’t label him a “bust.” Lauletta’s good performance didn’t push him past Webb on the depth chart.Webb is still No. 2. It’s almost certain he will enter the season that way — he has taken all the second-team reps while Lauletta and Alex Tanney split third-team work. It could — no, it probably will — take years for this competition to fully unfold. For now, let’s just enjoy watching these two young quarterbacks learn their craft. Not to mention the fact that the presence of a healthy Eli Manning means both quarterbacks have the time to do so.Just try to keep an open mind. One preseason game hardly offers enough evidence to reach a firm conclusion.Five other things I think I thinkI’m looking forward to next week’s joint practices with the Detroit Lions. I’m not traveling to Detroit for practices, and this also means I don’t have to make the 2.5-hour drive to East Rutherford this week Cheap Landon Collins Jersey , either. To the real point, though, I think Shurmur has conducted an excellent training camp and I believe the joint practices will be another positive step.“Kudos” to those of you who are fans of the ‘Locked on Giants’ podcast and hung with Patricia Traina and yours truly while we worked out our sound issues. We know how bad it was, and we thank you for the support. We believe that the sound is much-improved. For my part, I hope my on-air delivery is also improving.I think Eli Manning chiding the media to “not go berserk” over the 39-yard run by Saquon Barkley is hilarious. And typical of Manning’s sense of humor. Some of you felt ‘Kudos & Wet Willies’ were a bit skimpy on Friday morning. In retrospect, I would add defensive end Kerry Wynn and cornerback Grant Haley to my “Kudos.” category. I would probably add offensive tackle Malcolm Bunche (3 pressures in 16 pass-blocking snaps) to my ‘Wet Willies.”I’m hoping former Giants running back Orleans Darkwa finds a job soon. Coming off a career-best 751-yard season, Darkwa is still only 26. He can help somebody.I think this is kind of awesome. Left tackle Trent Williams helped spring running back Adrian Peterson with a big block in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Giants, but it may be Ty Nsekhe opening holes for Washington the rest of the way.Williams is out with a thumb injury and Pam Oliver of FOX Sports said he was downgraded after initially being called questionable to return to action. The team wasn’t missing him through much of their first two drives after halftime.Dustin Hopkins doinked a 53-yard field goal in off an upright to end the first Washington possession of the third quarter with a 10-3 lead and they were driving for more points on a short field, but Giants safety Landon Collins knocked the ball away from Adrian Peterson. Linebacker Olivier Vernon recovered the fumble and returned it into Washington territory.Washinton got that short field thanks to D.J. Swearinger‘s second interception of the day. Swearinger picked off Eli Manning on a deep ball in the general vicinity of Odell Beckham and returned the ball to the Giants’ 40-yard-line. The reprieve offered by Collins and Vernon went nowhere, though, because Evan Engram let a pass go through his hands on fourth down.

2018 NFL Draft http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline.com/ryan-jensen-jersey , the Buccaneers desperately needed to add a running back. With Peyton Barber as the only guy locked into a backfield spot, Tampa Bay added Ronald Jones II out of USC in the second round, presumably as the No. 2, if not No. 1, guy.Throughout the summer, there was a lot of hype building around Jones, a back that the Bucs selected over potential first-rounder Derrius Guice. As the preseason rolled around, Jones was a popular answer as to who everyone was most excited to see in game action. What came next was a whole lot of nothing. He picked up his first touchdown run in the preseason opener against Miami and caught a 37-yard pass against Detroit, but was largely ineffective otherwise.Jones’ preseason numbers totaled out to just 22 rushing yards on 28 carries. He didn’t always have the best blocking up front, but still looked hesitant regardless. After Thursday’s preseason finale, head coach Dirk Koetter answered whether he was concerned with the struggles and addressed the rumor that circulated last week about Jones not grasping the playbook: There are certainly some positives and negatives in what Koetter said about his rookie running back. It’s definitely a good thing that he is at least showing some flashes in practice. It’s also reassuring to know that he is working hard and not having any problems with the playbook. That’s all good. But the negative here is the clear disconnect that currently exists between practice Ronald Jones and game Ronald Jones.Perhaps with time, and a healthy starting offensive line in front of him Womens Chris Godwin Jersey , Jones will show up and be the player that he was in college. But Koetter’s concern does feel warranted. His is likely at a lower level than most of the Buccaneer fan base. Jones, even with the bad blocking, didn’t manage to show much burst in preseason action. He didn’t make many guys miss and he didn’t appear to have much confidence in his ability. The hope for him, Koetter and anyone attached to the Bucs is that a switch flips here soon. The team needs a confident, efficient RoJo. Otherwise, that “little bit” of concern will grow significantly larger.Mike Smith speaks to the media The Tampa Bay Buccaneers returned to practice on Thursday afternoon, in preparation for their week three matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Defensive coordinator Mike Smith spoke to the media following the teams practice. The Buccaneers did get some positive news today on the injury front regarding both Vita Vea and Brent Grimes. In regards to Vita Vea, it is unclear whether or not he will play this weekend, but Smith is confident in his ability to make an immediate impact. “Oh absolutely. Vita’s a big man. He’s going to demand four hands on him,” Smith said. “If they try to put two hands on him he’s going to be a guy that’s going to be able to get penetration into the offensive backfield. We’re just waiting for the word where he can get out and help us.”On the other side of the spectrum, Grimes declared himself 100% today and is excited to return to the field on Monday. Mike Smith is also looking forward to getting his top cornerback against the games best receiver. “It’s going to be great to have him back today first – out there on the practice field – and getting him reacclimated to playing football. He’s a very good defensive back that is going to make us a better defense, so we love having Brent out there Authentic DeSean Jackson Jersey ,” Smith said. “He knows and understands the game and he’s going to help the other guys as well because he’s a guy that really studies and understands splits, and how people are trying to attack us.”Tampa Bay is off to a great start and the Steelers are coming in to Raymond James Stadium desperate for a win. With the drama surrounding the Steelers right now, you can make the argument that this is a must win game for them. Mike Smith knows the Steelers will be ready to go come Monday. “I think when you don’t get the outcome you want in the previous week, it ramps up your desire. I don’t think it matters if you were a playoff team or you were a team that was in the middle of the pack. Guys in this league are super competitive – we don’t like to lose,” Smith said. “I can assure you that Coach [Mike] Tomlin is going to have those guys ready to go when we play them on Monday night. I hate to say underwhelmed, overwhelmed – when we go play the team that didn’t get the outcome they wanted the previous [week] they got a little something in their neck.”There was no question that the overall defensiveperformance improved from week one to week two for the Buccaneers, but the pass rush is what was noticeably improved. “I think the biggest progress that we made as a defensive football team was that we were a lot better in our pass rush and putting the pressure on the quarterback. We got to him three times and we hit him about a dozen times,” Smith said. “That was probably the biggest thing. It was a lot of individual effort, but it was also a group of guys that were working together in terms of knowing what each other was doing and being assist-men for each other.”If the Buccaneers want to get to 3-0, the pass rush will need to step up again or Big Ben will shred this defense apart.
